Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South Constituency, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has reported himself to the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) following a High Court arrest warrant issued on Wednesday, (September 30,2026).
The MP, who is currently at the EOCO office, reported himself in the company of his counsel, Samuel Atta Kyea, and other Members of Parliament.
WHY THE VOLUNTARY DECISION
He made this decision on the back of a High Court warrant of arrest issued to EOCO and seizure of documents relevant to its ongoing investigation.
Albeit the Court explicitly directed that the arrest warrant must be executed strictly through the speaker of Parliament, the MP opted to report himself to EOCO to ameliorate his plight.
WHY THE NEED FOR AN ARREST WARRANT?
The warrant was issued after EOCO told the High Court that it had exhausted reasonable means of securing the voluntary attendance of the Manhyia South MP.
The investigative body sought the Court’s authority to compel his attendance for questioning, after an invitation to him and a subsequent attempted arrest culminated in a heated confrontation at the premises of the Accra High Court.
MP’s ACCOMPANYING TEAM
Former Deputy Defense Minister, Kofi Amankwah-Manu, Subin MP, Kofi Obiri Yeboah and former Deputy Attorney-General, Joseph Kpemka among others accompanied the Hon. Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah to the EOCO office on top of his counsel, Samuel Atta Akyea.
The import of the investigation and the MP’s reason to engage EOCO are expected would be made known in the course of his appearance.
