Officials of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) are on mission to the law firm and residence of Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah. The exercise, as permitted by the High Court, will happen sequentially to gather evidence and collection of very vital documents needed to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
The development follows more than an hour of questioning of the MP by EOCO officials at the agency’s office.
Mr. Baffour Awuah reported himself to EOCO earlier today following a High Court warrant issued for his arrest.
He arrived at the EOCO office in the company of his counsel, Samuel Atta Kyea, and some of his parliamentary colleagues.
EOCO officials have now proceeded to the MP’s office and residence to conduct searches under the authority of the warrant.
The warrant followed an attempted arrest of the MP at the Accra High Court on September 23.
EOCO has maintained that Mr. Baffour Awuah was invited twice in February 2026 but failed to honour the invitations.
The MP has, in earlier interviews, disputed that account, saying the invitations related to his former law firm, Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah & Partners, which represented SIC Life Savings & Loans.
He said that after referring the matter to the Clerk to Parliament, a representative of the law firm appeared before EOCO on March 4, March 18 and April 30 and provided the information requested by investigators, including a written statement.
The investigation concerns alleged unauthorized financial transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Limited.
Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Srem Sai, has linked the probe to suspected financial loss, dissipation of public funds and money laundering, although the allegations remain under investigation.
The searches form part of EOCO’s ongoing investigations into the matter.
